Eighth Annual Turkey Bowl You could not ask for anything more! This year’s Turkey Bowl was played on Sunday, November 14th at The Haverford School’s Game Field on the greenest artificial turf you could ever imagine in 50-degree weather and beautiful blue skies. Six teams squared off for the right to call themselves the 2004 Champions. It was a hard fought afternoon with plenty of football action, fun, and food.
Captained by Greg Ackerman (Gilman Site Director), the Red Team started to slowly lose their first game to Spencer Curtiss’s Blue Team, 5-2. That was their wake up call! From that game on, they were consistently victorious and went on to beat Mike Joson’s Gold Team 4-3, then Chris Landosky’s Grey Team 5-2, and finally defeated Bill Rouse’s White Team 5-1...ultimately to make it to the championship game against Spencer’s Blue Team. In the championship game, on the center field, Greg’s Red Team got off to a quick start mounting a lead of 3-1, with 4 minutes left in the game. The Blue Team came right back and scored to cut the lead 3-2, but in the end, it was Greg’s Red Team who held on to the 3-2 victory as the game clock ran out. |
