ESF Winter Headquarters Department Updates

Ever wonder what ESF is up to during the off-season?  While you may be swamped with exams or lesson plans, our full-time staff is hard at work too!  We are prepping for the best summer yet—2008!  Read ahead to get a glimpse into each department at ESF Winter Headquarters!

Admissions and Enrollment Update

Department Head: Greg Ackerman

In Admissions and Enrollment, we look forward to assisting alumni camp families with camp enrollment and helping new families make the best possible camp choices for their children. We work with ESF, Phillies Baseball Academy, and Dream Camp Families--in person and on the phone--throughout the year to make sure all goes smoothly with camp registration. We do have some openings for full-time and part-time positions, as well as helpers, for upcoming camp events (i.e. Open Houses, Trainings and Orientations). Please contact Mike Mersky at mmersky@esfcamps.com for more information.

The Enrollment Team had a very busy summer.  Our main role is to support the sites in anyway possible. We are happy to say that it was a great summer thanks to all of the hard work and dedicated staff at each site.  A special thanks to the Administrative Specialists who were key in assisting our camp parents.  We couldn’t have done it without you!!

We are pleased to welcome two new Team members to our Executive Team who will be working with Admissions and Enrollment.  Caitlin Boyle, a veteran Team member at Moorestown Friends School, has joined ESF as an Enrollment Coordinator, assisting parents with camp enrollment and handling groupings at sites. Matt Alario, a veteran Team member at Trinity College, will be working a dual role in Operations and as an Admissions Coordinator. Both Team members will still work on site in the summer.

Talent Acquisition Team Update

Department Head:  Mike Mersky

The Talent Acquisition Team, formerly known as Team Development, has truly hit the ground running in the early fall.  A two-day advanced planning session in September set the stage for many new initiatives and gave us a jump start on recruiting our great Team members for the summer of 2008.  Organization of the re-recruitment forms, which all of you completed before the end of last summer, and the formation of the leadership trees for each site have proven to be invaluable to the early recruitment process for 2008.  Plans are underway to connect with leaders from each site, and to offer contracts to the leaders of each site, prior to the holiday season in December.  Other important initiatives include streamlining the hiring process, strengthening our recruiting efforts in New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut, and developing a strategic vision for the Talent Acquisition Team.  We look forward to seeing you and connecting with all of you very soon.  Best wishes from TAT – we miss all of you!

Operations Update
Department Head:  Chris Landosky

The OPS Team has been hard at work since the back of your Site Breakdown truck was closed. From art pompoms and paperclips to 50 lbs. boxes of clay and soccer goals, every item that was on site was identified, re-inventoried, stored in the ESF Inventory database, and repacked for next summer. With over 1,000 varieties of items and over 500,000 individual pieces in stock, the inventory process took some careful and meticulous counting. When asked about the time it takes to inventory every camp’s equipment, Nick Landosky (ESF’s Inventory Coordinator) stated, “It takes time to do it right but we want to ensure every site gets the correct amount of supplies and gets returning items back in great condition.”

Here are some fun facts about the ESF Inventory!  It takes…

  • …3 months and over 500 working hours to complete the inventory of our supplies.
  • …600 different signs to guide our families through campus.
  • …3,500 ft of rope to safely help our campers hit the mark in our Archery ranges.
  • …Over 1 ton of clay to facilitate creativity in our Art programs.
  • …22,500 swim ribbons to reward our campers each summer.
  • …6,500 balls to keep our Sports and Tennis programs exciting.
  • …22,000 Camper-O-Grams to encourage our campers each summer.
  • …825,000 cone cups keep our campers and Team hydrated throughout the summer.
