ESF Continues It's Partnership with St. Joseph's University
ESF and St. Joseph’s University agreed to continue to join forces to bring ESF Team members an exclusive opportunity to participate in a one-of-a-kind Master’s Program. The Educational Leadership Program prepares ESF Team members for leadership roles in schools as well as non-traditional and alternative educational institutions. Hands-on leadership opportunities at camp afford Team members graduate credits, classroom dialogue, and intensive exploration of educational theory. Participants become part of a comprehensive, cutting-edge educational experience in terms of Principal Certification and Curriculum Supervision, in addition to a plethora of other Educational Leadership experiences.
During the summer of 2006, four ESF Team members participated in the program: Sharon Beah (Dream Camp Girard), Sarah Davidson (The Lawrenceville School), Katherine Flaig (Norwood-Fontbonne Academy), and Amanda Landis (The Episcopal Academy). Excited by the opportunity to develop as an educator and pursue professional goals, Amanda Landis, Senior Camp Director at The Episcopal Academy noted, “The courses are relevant to contemporary issues in education, and the professors are friendly and knowledgeable.” Twice a week, Amanda and the other members of her class met at ESF’s Haverford School location for “EDU 4505: Administration Organization Culture & Planned Change.” The three credit course, taught by instructor Margaret Stengle, Ed.D., was the first of a sequence of courses that occur on-campus at St. Joe’s during the school year and on-site at The Haverford School during the summer.
Enrollment in the program is ongoing; eligible ESF Team members must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university as well as an Instructional I Teaching Certification. Participants can earn a Master’s Degree with Principal/Curriculum Supervision Certification or, if they already have a Master’s Degree, they may obtain a Principal/Curriculum Supervision Certification only. Those without an Instructional I Certificate may acquire a Master’s in Educational Leadership, but cannot acquire the Principal/Curriculum Supervision Certification.
