ESF Creates a "Warmth Tree"
ESF Dream Camp recently received a phone call that changed all our thoughts about Christmas forever. It was a Grandmother of two of our students, she stated that since the heater had been broken, the money she saved for Christmas, was now going to have to be used to fix the heater instead of for the kids presents. When I asked her if the kids believed in Santa, she said, “well not so much anymore, because since we don’t have extra money for cookies, they don’t think he will come.” It was decided that ESF would help bring Christmas back to life with this small family. We have collected money and presents for the Grandmother and the two young children (Daequan 8 years old and Daeja 7 years old). In addition to collecting presents, ESF has also decided to create a “warmth tree” in our lobby. All employees were encouraged to bring in gloves, scarves, hats, and mittens to be donated to families in need of such objects. The tree looks simply amazing! On Christmas morning there will be a family smiling from ear to ear and several people throughout the city of Philadelphia a little warmer, because the magic of Christmas really does exist due to a great group of caring people here at ESF. Happy Holidays!
