Full-Time Director of Logistics

 

POSITION:               Logistics Director 

REPORT TO:           Director of Operations 

LOCATION:             ESF Operations Center, Havertown, PA

 

Business Overview: ESF Inc. has been a vital influence in the camp industry since its founding in 1982. ESF (Education, Sports and Fun) features award-winning programs in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut and Florida for people of all ages. ESF also operates The Phillies Baseball Academy and Phillies Phantasy camp, the official camps of the Phillies.

 

General Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise, lead, and motivate a small team (5-10 direct reports)
  • Lead and motivate a team of 10-40 people (non-direct, seasonal reports)
  • Staffing, organizing and directing all operations within the ESF Operations Center to effectively manage the receipt, storage, packing, loading and shipping of supplies.
  • Control costs through productivity of personnel, efficient utilization of storage space and proper protection of stored material.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventories.
  • Participate in the development of strategies that outline facility workflow, storage, and systems.
  • Analyze current procedures and develop new ones to improve productivity and efficiencies.
  • Foster current business relationships with key officials.
  • Develop new relationships with vendors and contractors.
  • Responsible for scheduling routine maintenance of all company-owned properties.
  • Direct all transportation logistics and manage internal and third party transportation services (3PL). Build relationships and effectively negotiate with drivers and moving companies.
  • Develop both short and long-term strategies for the business.
  • Develop departmental strategic plan outlining goals, key benchmarks to be met, operating and ordering budget, and organizational plan.
  • Participate with other Division Heads (senior managers) in establishing the organization’s strategic plans and objectives.
  • Develop and review reports regarding statistical data necessary to assure department efficiencies are met. Take action as required to maintain compliance with goals.
  • Work with cross-departmental Directors for a variety of events and logistics.
  • Work with Events Manager to coordinate event logistics including: floor plan diagrams, equipment rentals, packing/checklist of equipment, etc.
  • Directly responsible for the successful planning, managing and overseeing all aspects and logistics for:

- Over 100 events, with two or more running simultaneously at times

- 10 large-scale, one-day events for hundreds of customers

- Five large-scale, one-day training sessions with hundreds in attendance

- One multi-day camp for over 200 customers

- Customer luncheons, business expos, job fairs, training sessions, open houses, orientations

- 14 large-scale summer camps for 9 weeks during the summer months

 

Qualifications:        

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to train and coach team members.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Excel. Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (including Word/Outlook), Internet Explorer. Project and Access a plus
  • OSHA training a plus
  • Knowledge of camping industry a plus

Requirements: 

  • Minimum 5 -10 years experience in purchasing, receiving, warehousing facility management and logistics.
  • Bachelors degree in Business Management, Administration, Operations, or other operations-related fields
  • Experience in Logistics Management in a Warehouse and/or Distribution Center
