ESF Winter Headquarters Department Updates

Ever wonder what ESF is up to during the off-season?  While you may be swamped with exams or lesson plans, our full-time staff is hard at work too!  We are prepping for the best summer yet—2008!  Read ahead to get a glimpse into each department at ESF Winter Headquarters!

Admissions and Enrollment Update
Department Head: Greg Ackerman

In Admissions and Enrollment, we look forward to assisting alumni camp families with camp enrollment and helping new families make the best possible camp choices for their children. We work with ESF, Phillies Baseball Academy, and Dream Camp Families--in person and on the phone--throughout the year to make sure all goes smoothly with camp registration. We do have some openings for part-time positions, as well as helpers, to assist in Winter HQ for certain time periods and for upcoming camp events (i.e. Open Houses, Trainings and Orientations). Please contact Mike Mersky at mmersky@esfcamps.com for more information.

The Enrollment Team had a very busy summer.  Our main role is to support the sites in anyway possible. We are happy to say that it was a great summer thanks to all of the hard work and dedicated staff at each site.  A special thanks to the Administrative Specialists who were key in assisting our camp parents.  We couldn’t have done it without you!

We are pleased to welcome our new Headquarters Nurse, Carole Kreissman, a veteran ESF Camp Nurse member at Montgomery School. Carole will oversee ESF’s Health & Safety program, nurse trainings and assistance of families whose children have special medical needs.

Logistics Update

Department Head: Chris Landosky

The OPS Team has been hard at work since Site Breakdown. From art pompoms and paperclips to 50 lb boxes of clay and soccer goals, every item that was onsite was identified, re-inventoried, recorded, and repacked for next summer. And with over 1,000 varieties of items and over 500,000 individual pieces in stock, the inventory process took some careful and meticulous counting. “We spent over 650 total hours during 2 months inventorying all the ESF and PBA equipment. It takes a lot of time with our small team, but it’s worth doing right!” says Jenn Prendiville (ESF’s Logistics Coordinator).

Here are some fun facts about the ESF Inventory:

  • 600 different signs are used to guide our families through campus

  • 3,500 ft of rope needed to safely help our campers hit the mark in our Archery Ranges

  • Over 1 ton of clay is needed for the creativity in our Art programs

  • 22,500 swim ribbons are needed to reward our campers each summer

  • 6,500 balls are needed to keep our sports and tennis programs exciting

  • 22,000 Camper O’ Grams are filled out each summer to encourage our campers

    …and

  • 825,000 cone cups keep our campers and Team hydrated throughout the summer

TAT Update
Department Head: Mike Mersky

The Talent Acquisition Team just completed a one-day advance planning meeting with a focus on our interviewing, screening, and hiring of new Team members for the summer of 2009.  We are excited about our discussions and have affirmed what we believe are the essential qualities and characteristics of a “Great Team Member,” and as we move forward, you will hear more about those essential pieces.  We are equally excited about the enormous number of positive calls we have made to our on-site Leadership Teams, to our Top Performers, and to our solid Team members who have expressed their strong desire to return for the summer of 2009.  The numbers are outstanding in terms of vets returning!  We are preparing to send out contracts as soon as possible to our great experienced Team members; certainly our goal is to mail those pieces before year’s end.  Please know how much all of us on TAT miss you, and also know how much we wish you all the very best for this upcoming holiday season.
